Mary Gonzalez Aguilera

Phone Outreach Coordinator

A proud California native with a passion for educational access, Mary brings a rich background in teaching, school leadership, and community partnership to her role as Phone Outreach Coordinator for Underdog Strategies. Her journey as a Teach For America corps member was further shaped by her studies abroad in Spain, where she deepened her commitment to language, culture, and student advocacy.

Prior to her current role, Mary served as the Assistant Principal of Student Services at a charter school in Los Angeles, leading initiatives that supported multilingual learners, and fostering strong partnerships with families and community organizations. She previously taught Spanish to high school students, designing equitable, engaging instruction and contributing to schoolwide curriculum work.

These combined experiences—spanning classroom teaching, family engagement, data-driven school operations, and multilingual support—directly inform Mary’s work today. In her role supporting families through the charter school enrollment process, she leverages her deep understanding of school systems, her communication skills, and her commitment to equity to ensure families receive clear information, personalized support, and a welcoming entry point into their educational journey.
